I was joking around with my mother about Halloween last night (after re-reading Mystic Topaz’ Camelot stories and all the Halloween Challenge drabbles) and it sparked the idea for a Halloween poem.  I thought I’d share it with you. Just think of Ella while you’re reading.

If you haven’t already read the Camelot stories, I would definitely recommend them.

          A Witch's Warning

By Purple Lacey

Stir the caldron.  Get it hot

Tonight a mortal's doom I plot.

With eye of newt and wolfbane leaves

Such sweet deception will I weave.

Before this night draws to an end

My awful wrath he'll comprehend.

For him, I was not good enough;

My face too long, my hands too rough.

No pretty face was born on me,

But I have the gift for witchery.

So with this gift I'll craft revenge.

His every slight I'll now avenge.

With magic's help I will ensure

He's helpless to resist my lure.

A glamour's mask will charm the knave

And lure him softly to his grave.

'Tis beauty's hand will lay him low,

And only then will he know

The price he pays for harsh words spoken;

For a shattered heart forever broken.

As midnight comes I'll cast my spell

To gird me in my magic shell.

And with faux loveliness and grace

Just once the rogue I will embrace.

But 'ere dawn breaks, his heart will feel

The bitter coldness of my steel.

As All Hallows Eve comes to an end

To Hell his soul I'll gladly send.

This lesson will he learn too late:

Never court a witch's hate.
